EMG measurements from a flying gymnast doing summersaults and other acrobatic movements
Is that possible?
Apparently it is!
Last week a team
from KINE went out to the gym to see how far we can push it with our equipments. We were exited to see if we could get EMG signal in the high speed and complex movements of the gymnast and to see if our sensors would stay in place.
Jonas, a young gymnast, was more than happy to show us some of his skills in the air.
The results were amazing, we got great signals and Jonas could do everything he wanted with no discomfort what so ever from the sensors.
Measurements were taken from three muscle groups: lateral head of gastrocnemius on left leg, extensors of the back and the right triceps brachii. Markers were placed on knee, hip, and the lowest rib for video analysing.
This little experiment convinced us that KinePro, our EMG and Video movement analysis tool, is applicable in all sort of extreme circumstances if it is above water and takes less than 7 minutes.
