Abstract Shoulder protocol,  White paper

Implementation of wireless EMG into training and analysis of movements opens up a whole new range of possibilities. Having the possibility to move freely and being able to process and look at the signal from muscles while you move or right after intervention, makes the training more specific and objective.

In this protocol for training and analyzing with the wireless EMG, the focus is on two things; on the muscle activation and muscle coordination problems related to excessive translatoric motion of the humeral head, and on the alterations in the muscle function of scapular and shoulder girdle muscles. Step by step analysis and training in phase I,II and III of rehabilitation are described.

Recent studies have emphasized on the shoulder girdle as one unit and there are increased evidence for altered recruitment patterns and neuromuscular control of both the rotator cuff muscles and the scapula muscles in instability, impingement syndrome and the injured shoulder, and the same is true for pain and surgery.

Working with wireless EMG for testing and training makes clinical work easy and fun to work with.

EMG biofeedback with such a big visual output and no hindrance of movement is very helpful to optimize your training, especially in the first two phases described here.
In the third phase of training you are definitely gaining when working with strength and in the wind up phase of many sports by looking a the EMG graph after the execution, you have the chance to judge the quality of muscle work and see if there is still the need to do more strength or control training.
